I earned a bachelors in computer science and a bachelors in math.

If you're focused on programming then don't take game specific courses or any of that tech school stuff. While I'm sure you love games (as I hope we all do) backing yourself into specific industry isn't a wise career decision. You'll also learn answers to the all important "whys" of computer science instead of just the "hows." That'll allow you to be flexible and not only continue learning as your career advances but also have you contributing to the field.

True you'll probably want to work overseas at some point for sure. After a few years, you'll likely realise it's pretty much the same everywhere, but you'll need to do it first. Then you'll probably come back to Australia at some point with a different game plan for your life.

Get a degree. Games courses in Australia are very immature and employment prospects will be tough, you're competing with a lot of good experienced people from everywhere. Games companies are generally pretty happy to hire from overseas to get the goods. Do your self a favour, get a good degree (University of Melbourne, Monash or perhaps RMIT) and be prepared to go where you can get a job anywhere in the world. For you, likely the UK, is a good starting point if you have no luck in the local job market.

The US is very hard to get into as a frend of mine was trying this year and his average was about 85%.
As long as you have a greencard it shouldn't be a problem, but if you need a Green card don't expect the companies to help. Thats what our class found out this year.

Thanks for all the input guys it has been much appreciated. I've decided to go with the CS degree and enrolled at my nearest University.

So gearing up for next year to begin it all.

Once again thank you for all the advice, it really helped me in making my decision.
