    Hi everyone,

I'm currently undertaking a PhD in psychology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK. As part of my research, I'll shortly be conducting a study involving people that are intending to take up a programming career within the video-game development industry, as well as existing or ex- programmers within the industry.

So, I'm currently looking for suitable volunteers based in the Nottingham or Derby areas of the UK to take part in my study.

The study will take place either in Derby, or at the NTU campus in Nottingham city centre, whichever is most convenient for you. It will involve you taking part in one simple team task exercise, which will last 1-2 hours. Dates and times are flexible to suit you, as I will be conducting a number of these exercises with different participants.

I'm afraid I can't offer you any financial compensation for taking part, but you will have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win an iPod nano. Additionally, you will have the intrinsic reward of knowing that you have not only helped me out personally, but have contributed towards expanding what is more widely known about the industry and the people who work within it. Hopefully, you will also find the actual experience of taking part in an academic study to be interesting in itself!

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary, and will be conducted following the strict ethical guidelines of the British Psychological Society.

For further information, or to express an interest in taking part, PM me or visit the project website:

Please feel free to pass this invitation on to any other suitable people you may know.

    Thanks!
    - Kevin

If its possible to undertake the task offsite I'd be happy to be involved - but its kinda a heck of a commute for me otherwise ;)
