2 years industry experience would definitely be a plus from our point of view when hiring

While you should still be applying for entry level, 2 years experience is definitely a leg up on fresh grads. On any posting I've seen 5 years seems to be the transition to intermediate.

Seeing this in the "New Posts" area, I feel I should follow on. I'm currently working, still in the Games industry. I did have a fair amount of trouble getting into a job, but I think it was due to the economic climate, and the facty that I'd limited myself to the UK.

Congratulations. Yeah, getting a job the last few months is certainly no mean feat in the UK. Glad it worked out for you and I'm sure your experience did you no harm at all.
